Mystery Diner in Algonquin: Montarra Grill serves up culinary adventure – Northwest Herald

It’s barely in the county, nestled at the end of a strip mall on the north side of County Line Road next to Randall Road. I placed my order earlier in the afternoon, set for pickup at 5:15 p.m.

I showed up a few minutes late, but I pulled up and walked to the restaurant’s door where my food was waiting and ready to be handed to me. Now that’s service.

I headed home where others were waiting to enjoy.

Montarra has a decent-sized outdoor dining area in the parking lot right now, but it was lightly raining all afternoon and that area was empty.

Rather than ordering several large meals, my fellow diner made the wise choice to go for variety, choosing the lobster bisque ($11, shown top right) and two items off the small plates menu, the strawberry and brie crostini ($11, bottom right) and Montarra’s Signature Tacos with crispy shrimp ($13, top left). Carne asada ($15) is the other signature taco item.
