It’s fair to say that TikTok managed to make some major headlines this year—like whether or not it would be banned from the country. But now that the bite-size video app is here to stay, the uber-trendy platform for all-things dance, e-boys and makeup continues to reign supreme, especially when it comes to influencers and their product recommendations.

More than just share-worthy clips, the app has become a hotspot for viral cooking trends (whipped coffee, anyone?), skincare and handy lifestyle products. If you’ve tuned into the platform, you might have seen some of these items swiping around—and, if you haven’t, allow us to introduce you to some of your new favorite things. Keep scrolling to discover 21 of the most popular TikTok products of 2020, and where you can snag them.

1. e.l.f. Cosmetics Poreless Putty Primer

Previously reviewed by YouTube beauty gurus and famed by TikTok, the e.l.f. Cosmetics Poreless Putty Primer originally gained popularity because of its low price point and resemblance to Tatcha’s expensive Silk Canvas Primer, which retails for $52. When applied post-skincare and pre-makeup, this $8 primer blurs your pores and provides a silky sheen. It results in some serious staying power and keeps makeup on all day long without any oily feeling. Beauty fanatics posted videos of themselves using this product for the first time and were instantly wowed by its smooth formula and how easily it filled pores in.

2. LED strip lights

LED strip lights gained TikTok popularity because… well, they’re fun. Most tweens post videos with the lights tacked up along the edge of their ceilings, which provides bright colors for selfie sessions, amateur photoshoots or music jam-outs. There are even tutorials circulating on the app on how to make pretty shades like lilac or baby blue, all depending on your mood. You can snag this set from Amazon, which contains 32.8 feet of lights with adhesive strips, plus a remote for easy color changing.

Get the DAYBETTER LED Strip Lights at Amazon for $26.99

3. Kitchen shears

I’m completely guilty of binge-watching cooking TikToks, but my personal favorites are the ones that inspire me to cook up healthy and yummy meals. Stevie Moon, otherwise known as @thehealthcurator on TikTok, is best known for posting running tips and nutritious cuisines and showcased these Toss and Chop Salad Tongs from Amazon in one of her many cook-with-me vids. For frequent salad eaters, these shears are an absolute must-have as they allow you to quickly chop up spinach into bite-size pieces right in the bowl—no knife or cutting board required. This tool also has soft-grip handles that lock shut for safe storage and the blades claim to never need sharpening.

4. The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

Before its TikTok notoriety, The Ordinary was just another skincare brand floating around the likes of Sephora and Ulta. Fast forward a few months, and its insanely affordable products are now completely sold out in stores, with its most famous item being the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. Users were intrigued by its purple-ish, burgundy color that has blood-like pigment, causing this mask to rise in TikTok fame. Don’t let the scientific name (or color) scare you away, though—apply this chemical peel as a mask and let it do its work. It claims to fight visible blemishes, improve the appearance of skin texture and brighten the skin using glycolic, lactic and salicylic acid. Note that because this product does contain some pretty serious chemicals, you should only use it once a week.

Get The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution at Ulta for $7.20

5. A hand blender

If you’re unfamiliar with the whipped coffee trend (otherwise known as phenti hui in Indian, where it originated before going viral) allow me to introduce you to your new favorite drink. This fluffy caffeinated beverage consists of instant coffee, sugar and milk, and gained notoriety from TikTok tutorials requiring you to whip the drink 400 times until you get that whipped cream consistency. While the web-famous way uses tedious hand mixing, you can just use a whisk or a hand blender to achieve the same results in half the time (trust me—we tried it out). Our pick for the best value immersion blender is the Braun MQ505, which includes a 20-ounce beaker, a whisk and a stainless steel blender. In testing, we found that this product was the fastest at whipping cream, making it the perfect tool for this TikTok trend.

Get the Braun MQ505 at Amazon for $59.95

6. Paint-by-numbers

In the height of this year’s quarantine, creators frequently posted videos of the unboxing and completion of paint-by-numbers. The once old-school activity has resurfaced as a way to allow the more artistically-challenged to create something fun with an impressive result. And, in 2020, paint-by-numbers have certainly received a millennial makeover—nowadays, viral TikToks showcase Harry Styles-themed portraits (I’m not complaining, though). If you’re on the hunt for a more traditional picture, you can turn to Amazon for pretty landscapes and floral themes. Each set comes with a pre-printed textured canvas, a set of acrylic paints and brushes, so you don’t have to worry about purchasing additional supplies.

7. Calligraphy markers

If you’ve never fallen down a rabbit hole of artsy calligraphy TikToks, then boy, you’re in for a treat. Lettering and calligraphy videos have taken the app by storm as many users find them super relaxing to watch, and it’s a great way for artists to get their work out there. Ranging from bullet journal layouts to gorgeous hand-lettering, creators typically use a mix of fountain pens, paint pens, inky markers or Crayola magic markers.

You can amplify your daily lists and weekly layouts by investing in a colorful set of markers or pens like these highly-rated dual-tip brush marker pens for $18.99. These highlighters from Staples are another fun option since they come in a wide variety of pastels and can be used for underlining, illustrating and outlining.

8. The Smart Kup

Hydro Flasks are yet another staple for TikTok teens, and who can complain about that? The high-quality water bottles are basically a fashion statement these days, and hydration has never looked better. But, since Hydro Flasks tend to be a bit bigger than the average beverage, fitting the bottle in your car’s cup holder is typically impossible—until these Smart Kups went viral on the app. Essentially, the Smart Kup is a three-inch upper that goes in your cup holder and will hold your bottle without it tumbling out on turns. It can fit Hydro Flasks that are between 32 and 40 ounces and, better yet, more than 1,000 4-star reviews pledge for this product. Many users have posted pictures of what it looks like in their car, writing that it fits perfectly in most vehicles.

9. SoftSheen-Carson Magic Fragrant Shaving Powder

At a first glance, the SoftSheen-Carson Magic Fragrant Shaving Powder may look ineffective in comparison to shaving cream. But with more than 9.8 million views and two million likes on this viral tutorial, this powder just might replace the aerosol can in your shower. Here’s how it works: Simply follow the ratio of water to powder using the directions on the can, then mix it up until you form a smooth, cream-like consistency. Apply it to the afflicted areas, wait for it to harden, then remove the product using a damp towel, leaving behind ultra-smooth and hairless skin. The product itself is targeted towards men looking to groom their beards, but tons of ladies on the app have used it to tame their body hair, too.

10. The Bissell Little Green Portable Spot and Stain Cleaner

If you’re in the market for a new cleaner, look no further than the Bissell little green portable spot and stain cleaner, which gained major notoriety after TikTokers began posting videos of its incredible performance. This tiny gadget works to scrub, spray and lift away dirt and stains with its powerful 1400m suction power, which can be used on carpets, chairs, couches and more. Fans of the gizmo were seriously shocked with the icky grime this Bissell model managed to suck up—not to mention the water tank is removable, so users post weirdly satisfying before and afters.

11. The Pink Stuff

Hailed as a fix-all solution for cleaning, The Pink Stuff is a UK-based product that gained a following for its incredible formula. TikTokers film themselves using the pink putty to clean up their cars, kitchens, bathrooms and more, leaving behind sparkling, streakless surfaces. Perhaps the most famous of videos comes from a user named beautybyliz903, who used the product to clean drawings and pencil marks off her wall. Within seconds of wiping, it was as if she had a brand new coat of paint on her walls.

12. A no-touch door opener

Perhaps one of the more relevant viral products of the year? No-touch keychains, which gained notoriety after creators filmed themselves using the handy tools to open doors, use ATMs and more. Essentially, the product is meant to help limit how much you’re touching frequently-used surfaces in public—a solution that I think many of us can appreciate in COVID-19 times. These super useful gadgets are available at Amazon, with this two-pack retailing for just $7.99.

13. A laptop stand

If you’re still working from the comfort of your home, chances are you definitely need one of these popular laptop stands in your life. Spotted in office tours and WFH-approved set-ups galore, lifestyle TikTokers frequently feature these functional yet aesthetically pleasing mounts. This creator, in particular, posted a video detailing her fave, which received high marks for its durable construction and user-friendly design. You can get the same one she uses at Amazon for a little less than $40 (it’s also available in two other hues besides silver: pink or space grey).

14. A water bottle with time markers

If there’s one thing TikTokers are on to, it’s proper hydration. Creators on the app absolutely love their water bottles, and this one, which features handy time-to-drink markers, is a must-have according to many of the platform’s fitness gurus. It’s a pretty genius idea, too, especially if you struggle to drink enough water throughout the day—all you have to do is follow the hourly time stamps on the bottle and you’ll be chugging H20 like a pro. This one has nearly 16,000 reviews on Amazon and is available in a ton of fun colors.

Get the Giotto 32-Ounce Large Leakproof BPA-Free Water Bottle with Time Markers at Amazon for $19.99

15. Museum Gel

I wouldn’t regard Museum Gel as your typical, run-of-the-mill product recommendation, but the craft essential rose to fame on TikTok after users started applying it as a way to keep drawer organizers or precious glassware in place. As the name suggests, the clear adhesive gel was designed for museums but it can be used for nearly anything. The product is meant to ensure collectibles don’t fall during earthquakes, while the formula itself is removable, reusable and non-toxic, and it won’t stain or mark furniture.

Get the Ready America Museum Gel at Amazon for $11.61

16. A star projector

Astrology fans and the night-sky obsessed will love laser star projectors, which use bright LED lights to imitate gorgeous nebula clouds and stars. This video received a whopping 41,000 likes when the creator showed off the make-shift galaxy sky the Aushen laser star projector provided. The wired gadget has 28 Aurora color effects, along with Bluetooth speakers and a USB disk slot. It also comes with a remote control that can adjust brightness and start or stop the motion, plus, there’s a night timer that can be turned on or off for one-hour-long increments.

Get the Aushen Laser Star Projector at Amazon for $49.90

17. The ChomChom Roller Dog Hair Remover

Another huge guilty pleasure of mine? Cleaning TikToks. Believe it or not, those oddly satisfying clips are a huge niche community on the app, especially with the product recommendations and technique-based suggestions amplified by its creators. The ChomChom roller dog hair remover, for instance, has a large cult following, and not just on the app—it has an impressive 4.7-star rating from nearly 37,000 Amazon shoppers. In tutorials on TikTok, users showcase how useful this lint roller is and how much pet hair, dander and dirt it can pick up on cloth surfaces like beds, couches or even apparel. Best of all, it doesn’t require any batteries or power source: All you have to do is roll it back and forth on the desired surface and bam, you’re in business!

Get the ChomChom Roller Dog Hair Remover at Amazon for $24.95

18. Rollerskates

During the summer of 2020, rollerskating TikToks became a massive trend. Spearheaded by talented creators of color, these too-cool-for-school folks filmed themselves strutting their stuff on wheels to the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Bee Gees remixes and Saweetie. If their ’70s-inspired vids inspired you to pick up a pair of skates yourself, you can grab retro-style ones at Amazon or practical pairs for the whole fam at Target

19. Mason jars

We all know that mason jars have been popular for years for air-tight food storage, but TikTok gave a new meaning to the kitchen essentials when crafters started using them for DIY home décor. Using simple supplies like paint and twine, creators made quick-and-easy tutorials on how to transform the average mason jar to stand-out centerpieces. For instance, this user spray-painted theirs gold, applied glitter to the bottom portion and sealed it all with Mod Podge to create sweet baby shower flower vases. Another idea? This creator coated theirs with chalk paint, tied some farmhouse-inspired twine around it and replaced the top with a soap dispenser, making it a cute accent for your bathroom or kitchen.

Get the Ball Regular Mouth 32-Ounce Mason Jars (2-Pack) at Amazon for $15.99

20. Hair clips

The ’90s called, and hair barrettes are so totally back in style. That’s right: Stylish kiddos, tweens and teens who were rocking butterfly and claw clips back in the day can nab ’em once again at a plethora of retailers like Amazon, Target and Etsy. This 15-pack of acrylic clips at Amazon, feature fun geometric and tortoise patterns, while this no-slip jaw clip at Target is perfect for quick and easy hairdos. You can also nab beautiful custom-made ones from talented artists at Etsy, such as this floral resin two-pack or this multi-colored claw clip

21. An air fryer

Here at Reviewed, we’re pretty obsessed with air fryers, and TikTok chefs are, too. Creators frequently experiment with the kitchen gadgets, using them to roast and toast veggies for healthy sides or share recipes for quick and easy weeknight salmon. More daring users post videos of themselves air frying the unthinkable, just to see if it works, like Smuckers Uncrustables and Oreos. Our all-time favorite air fryer is the Philips Airfryer XXL, which we absolutely loved for its massive 1.36-liter capacity and amazing performance.
