That's really what is meant by "black cat crossing path" because no self-respecting cat (of any color) is going to deign to trot in front of a human. But taking a little snooze and getting in the way a bit....yeah, that's the cat way.

They prefer to either walk very slowly in front of you always exactly where you want to go or lay down right in your path and roll over looking oh so pettable. That's one smart cat there.
