Got a camera again.. my old SLR gave up a year and a half ago (the mirror couldn't be remounted)..

& it turns out that since everyone is switching to digital, people are ditching their old SLRs & point-and-shoots
and thrift stores are selling them for a proverbial song. I picked up a Pentax auto point-and-shoot and a Vivitar point-and-shoot for $1 each. The Vivitar doesn't work, but the Pentax is a champ. A decent camera (though not a SLR) for $2. Yowzah!

Hi Michael! This is a really cool photograph. I know you probably are tiring of my usual comments about many of your slide shots, but this one just looks far too blue. Again, I've "corrected" this image and present it here: http://jamesnortonphotography.com/images/dLilTreeLilRockIsLongfellow.jpg

To me this *must* be a more accurate portrayal of what you saw. No?

Ted:
Cool! I've been on the lookout for pentax superprograms. my SLR of choice. I haven't found any for a buck, though. I think there are other people out there looking for them. I've gotten a handful of google hits for Middle-Fork's about page, so there's interest.

Jim:

Yeah, looks good. But I won't be convinced until you go there, in late June, with a roll of Selectchrome 200. I'll show you the place if you like. Need to be there sometime between 2 and three on an appropriately cloudy day. (See next day's picture.) Maybe we have a differing number of blue cones. I have read that some significant percentage of men are evolving a new blue cone. How can we acertain which group to which we each belong?

But, yeah, your version looks more natural. I almost never tweak the color, although sharpening and increasing contrast introduces some color artifacts.

so, lessee...

No, I still don't buy it. I've been looking at them for awhile, and your picture is way too green.
There's a blue tinge out there, the rocks, the sky, the mutant eyed forestheads, everything.

yeah, there's a lot of green with yellow in it.
