Is the magenta color of the rocks real or is it an artifact of scaning or white balance?

I did nothing to the color balance; I increased the brightness a bit, and sharpened edges, and so I believe that this is as close as selectchrome 200 on a party cloudy day can capture the right colors.
It looks right to me. Some of these creeks are decorated with a light greyish blue rock.

I *really* think the bluish color is due to reciprocity failure... That is caused by an over exposure... I say this based on some information passed on to me by a photographer friend of mine...

Lovely photograph though...

It's a good theory, except that almost all my film images are underexposed, including this one. I'm serious about the light grey/blue rock, it's all over the place out there.

Here are three copies of the original, all scanned to TIF, resized, then saved as GIF, PNG, and JPG with no further processing.

Tomorrow, I'll post another picture I took within a few minutes of this one, it shows the colorful rocks in the stream.

UPDATE: I thought I had an illustrative image, but no.
