Wow. That's beautiful. Where is this, exactly? And what's growing down there?

Pigeon Butte is in the William L. Finley National Wildlife Refuge, which is south of Corvallis, about halfway between Corvallis and Monroe on the west side of Highway 99 West. The row of bushes at te top of the picture is Bruce Road. There are two trailheads on Bruce road, one to the left and one to the right of this view. These trails are not open in the winter, they usually open 1 April. Finley is a great place, I've spent a lot of time wandering around there. Woodpecker Loop is a very nice trail which is open all year round. It is accessible from the more northern of the refuge.
I believe it's grass that's growing there. The refuge rents out parts of the land.

Yeah, if you're not familiar with Willamette Valley, grass seed is a major crop.
