i saw this species in market harborough today is it rare???

I don't know.

I know that it is rare for them to sit and let me take pictures so upclose and personal. If you look closely, you can see that there are threads of spider silk on the wings and head. I speculate this is why it didn't want to fly away.

I took this picture on Steamboat Creek in Oregon USA. If the same species is in England, then I suspect it is not rare. But, I am not an expert.
