Pussy Willow 5
A row of trees has been planted along the path, and all through the fields. I believe they are Cottonwoods. They will create morning shade for the little Pussy Willow in a few years. The similar plantings near the parking lot are 3 or 4 years old and 12 feet in height.

Tipsoo Madrone
Madrones are cool - a weed tree that slithers and twists around to find a place in the sun. This one is on the trail from the road on the east side of Cougar res. up to Tipsoo Butte.

Grampa Doug near Bristow Prairie
This fellow lives near Bristow Prairie.
This is the view from the trailhead. That's the south side of Steeple
Rock perched on the clearcut.
The first time I went there, I had
to search out the trailhead. I went the next year, and it had been reconstructed. The start of the trail was rerouted, and there is a trailhead sign. This doug fir lives about a quarter mile from the road, on the east side of the trail. Here's a picture from a couple years later.
