Middle-Fork is on the Road
December 4th, 2007I planned to leave Eugene about 1100, but didn’t actually roll over 30th St. until just after noon. Mt. Shasta is on the way, and the vista point where I-5 pops out onto the valley north of Yreka was the one photo op stop I had planned. The hour delay almost doomed my desires.Mt. Shasta is visible as you drive south towards Medford, but I passed on by. Crossing the border, and driving by Hilt is another view.

I knew I wouldn’t make it to the vista before sunset. I pulled over at a wide spot on the shoulder and grabbed the image of opportunity.

Great view, but not a great place to hang out. I cruised on. (When did the fruit check end.) The gloaming was fast upon the mountain by the time I reached the vista.

I thought this was it, but there was still light on Shasta when I reached the Weed airport rest stop, and it made for a beauty. I have posted it as the 5 Dec 2007 Middle-Fork post.
Now I’m in Redding. Tomorrow is the Big Valley and I’ll probably stop in Bakersfield.
