Miles and de Kooning in the Afterworld

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

Miles is using my picture of de Kooning in Afterworld as wallpaper on his MySpace Profile. It’s kinda awful - doesn’t work worth beans as a background, but what the heck, I like my picture enough to make a big mess of chili.

The picture is a photograph of a shallow creek running across bedrock, viewed through a template created from a drawing. The white is the paper the drawing was on. I like this technique a lot, and have been edging back into more work like this.

Thanks Miles!

JuvFan and the Cool Pants

Friday, May 25th, 2007

This is a polaroid from long ago, and has been hotlinked for the first time by JuvFan on a Macedonian forum called Kajgana.

Warning: Some Racy Content

I have no good idea what this is all about, but it looks like fun - a lot of celebrity types draped in partial clothing, and at the bottom of the page someone who looks like they would be more at home at a carnivsl.

Thanks, JuvFan!

Nick and the Tidal Patterns

Monday, May 21st, 2007

This is a new hotlink. I don’t get down to the beach very often - the mountains are closer and far more interesting to me. We met a bunch of friends from across the country for a couple of days, staying at right on the beach at Driftwood Shores, very nice, although their breakfast food is pretty slack for Lane County’s Only Beach Resort. We arrived early, and tramped around in the blowing sand looking for pictures. The blowing sand is disturbing when I am carrying a camera around, and the bondage relationship with my hat gets old, but I had a blast. All of the pictures in the Beach archive were taken that day.

Nick is using it as the wallpaer on his MySpace profile. This kind of works, I don’t know. It’s mildly effective in this setting, but it makes his pale green text difficult to read. But I’m very happy to see it.

Thanks, Nick!

@ssassin Sends Savvy J Some Tulips

Friday, May 18th, 2007

I love this picture! This was one of the first times I tried cutting the background away and setting it black - this really accentuates the colors and shapes that inspired the photograph. Since then, I have done this to most of the flower pictures. (You can see more examples in the Flowers 2007 archive.)

@ssassin, a self-described cherry popping lassie, has left these tulips as a comment to Savvy J on his myspace profile.
This picture appears somewhere on * Sol *’s profile as well. It is set private. It also appeared briefly in private email.
It’s not on the first few google image result pages for tulip(s) - maybe that will change now. Here is the Middle-Fork post

Thank you very much, @ssassin! ( and * Sol * and stranger!)

Here Comes the Rain Again, Resourced, Renamed, Recolored and Cropped

Friday, May 18th, 2007

http://i11.servimg.com/u/f11/11/04/34/43/fondfo11.jpg

This picture was originally hotlinked, and now the image has been stolen, cropped, and had its colors changed. Owell - at least they left mine on long enough for me to make note.

It’s at a French forum named Parlons de nos parties jdr and sits mostly obscured in the background. The green coloring looks like tornado weather - how often are there tornadoes in France?

Well, anyway, it’s a stolen image, but I just want to document its use - I don’t like playing cop for people who need to play thief. You silly people, just ask! and you shall receive.

UPDATE: I think I’ll try something new. I’m grabbing the infringing copy, renaming it back to something I recognize, and ask the forum to hotlink. I have left this message at the forum:

(it is translated by computer of English, forgive all the errors please.) Hello, the basic photograph painted Ipapier?) is my photograph, slightly changed. Please employ this copy with my waiter: http://www.middle-fork.org/archives/dHereComesTheRainAgain.jpg and not this copy: http://i11.servimg.com/u/f11/11/04/34/43/fondfo11.jpg Thank you! I am happy loves you the image, I want right knowledge when people employ my images. postscript: It is green! It of resembling a tornado coming - do you obtain much tornadoes in France?

I fed English into Babelfish, and the above is the French translated back into English.

The Orange Dragonfly Alights in Russia

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

This forum is in Cyrillic, which I can’t read, and neither can babelfish. My dragonfly shares a post by stardoc with a few other dragonflies, but they pale in comparison with the wonderful photoshopped animals above and below it. Check it out, they’re way cool.

I took this picture in my back yard. I got greedy and touched the tree and off it flew. I do that too much. Owell. The weather is warming and the insects are starting to show - hopefully I’ll see one of these again soon.

Here is the latest Orange Dragonfly hotlink list. There are only two currently, and the busiest one is kim’s myspace page, which is set private.

Thank you kim and stardoc!

Dzeparoski Nikola Re-Sources My Drop of Water and Claims Copyright

Friday, April 20th, 2007

This Drop of Water is going places! Unfortunately, one new place constututes a Infringing Copyright Claim.

Dzeparoski Nikola made a smaller jpg from my gif. Here it is:

I have sent email to the contact address on this page:

To : contact@ii.edu.mk
Cc : therobotvegetable@middle-fork.org
Attchmnt:
Subject : Dzeparoski Nikola and my picture of a drop of water
—– Message Text —–
Hello,
It has come to my attention that Dzeparoski Nikola has taken my image

http://www.middle-fork.org/archives/2006/03/a_drop_of_water.html

and claims copyright on it:

http://stella.ii.edu.mk/i2006/10979/greska/black_beauty.htm

I don’t mind if there is a unattributed hotlink that is a good thing. Unfortunately, Dzeparoski Nikola has re-sourced the image and claims copyright. This is unhappy and not necessary - this person is welcome to use my image, sourced from my server, without attribution.

Here are three articles I have written extolling the use of my image from my server:

http://hotveg.blogspot.com/search?q=drop+water

I am currently writing a new article to document this infringement and any resolution. I am please that Dzeparoski Nikola likes my image and wants to share it with others. All I ask is that the copyright notice is removed.
Please let me know what information you need to assist me in this sad task.

Thank you,
veg

There are three previous posts about hotlinks to this image. Here is the current list of hotlinks

This is unpleasant - I want to share and someone steals. I don’t understand the thinking behind such actions.

Many People Stumbleupon Middle-Fork

Monday, April 16th, 2007

This is cool: Middle-Fork has been stumbledupon. I don’t understand this yet.

Traffic for the December 2006 Middle-Fork archive took a big jump today, from people actually coming in from the index and fetching all the images. (More usual is an archive being fetched as a result of being the source of an image search hit.)

Looking around a bit, I found that the archive was mentioned by Kelly in Portland, OR in her blog Live Well. Laugh Often. Love Much in the 11 Apr post entitled beautiful photos, simple moments

Thanks Kelly!

The stumbling started then: this archive was discovered by FireSideChatter in Vegetarian.

FireSideChatter has been linking to this picture:

which is in the December 2006 archive.

Thanks FireSideChatter!

Both of these events happened on 11 April, five days ago. What happened today that sent this archive into the stratosphere?
